Who is responsible

This website is operated by Bavu Blakes, based in the United States. For questions about this notice or requests about your information, email bavu@bavublakes.com.

Information collected

• Booking inquiries: Your name, email address, organization, requested engagement, and message. You may also provide an organization type, event date, audience details, and a budget range.
• Newsletter subscriptions: Your email address and signup, subscription, and email-interaction information processed by beehiiv. This can include confirmation and unsubscribe status, opens, and link clicks, depending on the publication’s settings.
• Correspondence: Information you provide when you email us or reply to a booking message.
• Website activity and technical information: Pages visited, referring pages, interactions such as downloads or video plays, and technical information that hosting and embedded services may receive, such as IP address, browser, device type, and request timestamps.

Please do not include payment-card details, passwords, sensitive personal information, or identifiable student records in a booking inquiry.

How information is used

Information is used to respond to inquiries, send receipt acknowledgments, discuss and coordinate engagements, provide the newsletter you request, understand website usage, and help protect the website against misuse. It may also be used to maintain relevant business records and meet applicable legal obligations.

A booking inquiry does not subscribe you to Field notes. Newsletter signup is a separate choice.

Services that help run the website

• Resend: Processes booking emails, including inquiry details sent to Bavu and the acknowledgment sent to you. Your email address is used as the reply-to address on the inquiry so Bavu can respond directly.
• beehiiv: Hosts the newsletter signup form and manages newsletter subscriptions, subscriber communications, and related email activity.
• Replit and its infrastructure providers: Host the website and server, deliver assets, and process technical request and operational information.
• Website analytics: The site supports Umami-based analytics for page visits and selected interactions, such as downloads and media plays. The site’s custom interaction tracking does not include booking-form contents.
• YouTube / Google: Provide embedded videos. When an embedded player loads or is used, the provider may receive technical information and process data under its own privacy practices.
• Email providers: Process and store correspondence in the sending and receiving mailboxes.

Providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate. External ticketing sites, social networks, and other linked websites have their own privacy notices. Their handling of information is separate from this website.

Cookies and embedded content

Embedded forms, video players, and their security services may use cookies, browser storage, or similar technologies for functionality, security, measurement, or their own services. Even privacy-enhanced video embeds can communicate with the provider when they load.

You can manage cookies and storage through your browser. Blocking third-party content may affect signup forms or video playback. A direct signup link is provided with the newsletter form, and you may email Bavu instead of using the booking form.

Retention and security

Inquiries and correspondence are retained as needed to respond, coordinate engagements, maintain relevant business records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Newsletter information is managed in beehiiv; unsubscribe and suppression records may be retained to respect your preferences.

Reasonable safeguards are used to protect information, but no website, email system, or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. Please contact us if you believe information has been exposed or used improperly.

Your choices and requests

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using the unsubscribe link in its emails. Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent a response to a booking inquiry you make.

Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, or to object to or restrict certain uses. Contact bavu@bavublakes.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity, and some information may need to be retained for legal or legitimate business reasons.

Children’s information

The booking and newsletter forms are intended for adults, including organizers and educators. They are not intended to collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through these forms, contact us so we can review and address it.
